little known fact about me…

I’ve been blogging for over a decade.
That may not seem like much until
you realize that means I started blogging as a preteen.

That blog is still on the internet somewhere…
{no, I’m not going to link to it here}

After that blog
came another
and another
and another.
Then there was this blog.

I’m not referring to individual blog posts
I’m saying I’ve had four completely different blog webpages
before this one.

Having started them throughout
my preteen and teen years,
I quickly outgrew them.

I’ve almost outgrown this one.
So, predictably,
I started a new one.
New content every Monday.

Maybe I’ll write for both
for awhile,
but I don’t know how long that will last.

I may let jordannewhouse.wordpress.com
become dormant.

I don’t feel like writing

I don’t feel like writing
my muse is obtuse
neither prose nor a poem
seem to be of much use

“what’s the point?” I complain
“what do I have to say?”
and “who’ll read my words
if I write anyway?”

yet word follows word
as I type and I type
though I feel apathy
still I can’t help but write!

it’s time to cut you off

that’s it.
I’m not putting up with you any longer.
you’ve got to go.

I’m not going to mess with any
“it’s not you it’s me”
lies.

it’s not me it’s you.
it’s time to say goodbye.
I’m done pretending I love you.

it’s time to cut you off,
as hard as it may be
to separate myself from you.

my identity was wrapped up in you.
who will I be without you?
I’ve been afraid to know myself apart from you.

but today…
today I bid you
farewell.

I feel lighter.
I didn’t realize how much you were weighing me down.
it feels good to be free.

I’ll miss you.
life’s going to be different without you.
but honestly? it’ll be different in a good way.

note: Things may not be as they appear. Did you think you were reading about a boyfriend/girlfriend break-up? Well, this is actually a Dear John letter to my long hair. Go ahead, reread it. 😉

the world in His hands

Abba
the world…
it needs You
I am Your ambassador
it’s my calling
my responsibility
to represent You
to the world
I feel the weight
of the task at hand
I want to fulfill
this great calling
that I have been
blessed to carry
but it is too much for me
I kneel in prayer
and sink lower
onto my face
Abba
the world!
it needs You!

Yes
You whisper
it needs Me
and yes
you are My ambassador
so I will use you
to show the world Myself
but the world
does not need you
I am holding the world
and I am holding you
Let me take the weight
as you fulfill your call
but do not take on
My responsibilities
for I don’t need you
but I do want you
Remember this
that it may not be
a burden to you
but a blessing
